There is a little well-kept secret within Rimon Advisory. Each year, after the craziness of the R&D tax incentive deadline, our team take a special trip together.
Most company’s do something at December time – year end. But not Rimon Advisory.
March and April are always intense for us. The 30th of April is the R&D tax incentive deadline, and as such, March and April are months of little sleep and intense pressure. That’s why we decided to have our big team event just after, in either May or June.
We have teams based in both Sydney and Melbourne, and it’s important for both teams to spend time with each other, building those fundamental connections that allow elite teams to trust each other and thrive together.
In the past we have visited places like the USA (San Francisco and Los Angeles) and Japan. We’ve also done some fun local Aussie hangouts like Byron Bay and Port Douglas.
This year we decided to head to Singapore. I would describe Singapore as a place curated unnatural to feel natural. Where Tokyo felt like a concrete jungle Singapore felt like a manicured garden. Greenery everywhere and perfectly kept at all times.

When we visit new places, we like to gain understanding for the innovation that takes place there. At the end of the day, that’s what we do – understand our client’s innovation and put that across to the government to access the funds through the R&D tax credit or the Export Market Development Grant.
The more our minds are open to different types of R&D the world has to offer, the better we are able to understand and articulate what our clients do.
Japan has TeamLabs, where innovation meets nature. Singapore has Gardens By The Bay, where nature meets innovation. From the Cloud Forest housing the gigantic Super Trees (again, a marvel of curated nature) to the nature dome with horticulture from all the continents of the world bar antarctica (climate controlled to perfection).
But the best part of Gardens By The Bay was, without a doubt, Jurassic World. Plants were created to match the size of the Jurassic Era. Scenes recreated from Jurassic Park, but not in plastic or concrete, living breathing beings of nature. We walked through Jurassic Park as if we were a part of that time.

The food in Singapore was scrumptious, the quirky side streets and markets lived up to every traveller’s dream and the people were friendly and helpful. We visited other places like Sentosa Island and the Famous Singapore Night Safari.
Rimon Advisory have been in business for many years. Allow me to impart one lesson I have learnt, if you take care of your team, you will build a place that everyone will want to be a part of.
